A Hard Rain’s Going to Fall
COVID-19 has been an issue for many, and Lawless Alan is no exception. Due to the closure of construction sites across much of the nation, AUTOParkit has had to cease its sponsorship of the No.12 Bill McAnally Racing entry in the ARCA Menards and Sioux Chief series for the immediate future.
Alan said, “It’s tough for everyone, losing my ride is disappointing but there are many, many people who are suffering far more during these times. I want to thank all of the people at AUTOParkit for their many years of support. I know a lot of their team have been laid off and I feel for every one of them and their families.”
In their announcement AUTOParkit has expressed desire to return as Alan’s primary sponsor later in the year or in 2021. AUTOParkit Marketing Director Steve Sharp said, “It was a tough to let Lawless down. When considering the hardships facing our company and our many employees, we really had no other choice.
“Lawless has done an amazing job for our company and you will continue to see him in our commercials running during ARCA telecasts on NBCSN and MAVTV. We want to thank Bill McAnally for his support, there is no better group in ARCA Menard West and it’s been a privilege to be a part of his team. With a little luck we’ll be back towards the end of the season. We have every intention to be back on track with Lawless as soon as possible.”
Alan, the racer he is, is not just sitting around thinking about what could have been. “My marketing team is hard at work looking for sponsorship and I’m hard at it at my home gym and racing on esports. I’ll also be running some Late Model and Legends events at Irwindale to keep my competitiveness up. My classes at the University Alabama are also starting again, so I have plenty to focus on. As racers you have to expect the unexpected because never know when a hard rain’s going to fall – it’s just part of the game.
“We’d hoped to have run some Trans Am TA2 races this year as well, but I really don’t see that happening at this point. I’ll keep at it, as I live to race and I race to win. We’ll use this time to get stronger and build my social media following and my brand. We’re launching my new website and that is pretty exciting. Hope to see my fans at the track soon.”
